KILASTOTABUAN.COM, JAKARTA — Francis Ngannou akan menghadapi Ciryl Gane dalam duel perebutan status kelas berat sejati UFC, Minggu (23/1) pagi WIB. Berikut kronologi duel tersebut.
Ngannou sukses mencapai puncak singgasana kelas berat pada tahun lalu. Setelah memenangkan empat laga beruntun, Ngannou kembali mendapatkan kesempatan untuk berburu sabuk juara kelas berat pada Maret 2021.
Di tahun 2018, Ngannou sempat punya kesempatan memenangkan sabuk kelas berat namun ia kalah dari Stipe Miocic. Di UFC 260, Miocic kembali berdiri sebagai lawan Ngannou.
Dalam duel kedua, Ngannou tampil lebih agresif dan ganas dibandingkan sebelumnya. Ia sukses memukul KO Miocic di ronde kedua.Sabuk juara kelas berat pun berpindah ke pangkuannya.
Setelah jadi juara kelas berat UFC, Ngannou sejatinya punya satu kali jadwal bertarung di paruh akhir 2021. Namun saat itu Ngannou menolak untuk bertanding.
Lantaran Ngannou tidak tampil di octagon pada paruh akhir 2021, UFC menggelar duel Derrick Lewis vs Ciryl Gane. Duel ini memperebutkan sabuk interim kelas berat.
Gane mendominasi pertarungan dan menang TKO di ronde ketiga dalam duel lawan Lewis. Ia pun berstatus sebagai juara interim pada Agustus lalu.
Saat itu sudah mulai muncul rumor yang menyatakan Ngannou ingin mendapatkan bayaran lebih besar di UFC. Ngannou lalu menyatakan bahwa ia memang belum mau menandatangani perpanjangan kontrak dengan UFC.
Menurut Ngannou, ia butuh penawaran lebih baik karena selama ini ia masih kesulitan soal keuangan.
“Saya tidak menandatangani kontrak karena saya tidak merasa terlindungi dengan persyaratan yang ada. Dalam dua tahun terakhir, saya dua kali bertarung dan saya harus meminjam uang untuk hidup.”
“Tidak ada yang peduli soal itu. Saya tak punya jaminan dan saya tak punya perlindungan. Jadi berdasarkan pengalaman, saya ingin sesuatu yang lebih baik, penawaran kontrak yang lebih baik,” ujar Ngannou di bulan Oktober.
UFC lalu mempertemukan Ngannou lawan Gane dalam duel di UFC 270 bulan ini sebagai penentuan juara sejati. Dalam persiapan duel ini, kontrak Ngannou dengan UFC juga belum kelar.
Ngannou bahkan bertekad untuk tak lagi melanjutkan kerja sama dengan UFC meskipun ia bakal terikat klausul juara bila memenangkan duel lawan Gane.
Gane sendiri punya rekor impresif dan patut diwaspadai Ngannou. Ia mencatat kemenangan dalam seluruh 10 laga yang dijalani di mixed martial arts sejauh ini. (*)
