KILASTOTABUAN.COM, JAKARTA – Malaysia melaporkan lebih dari 100 kematian akibat virus corona dalam dua hari berturut-turut.
Negeri Jiran mencatat 103 kematian baru Covid-19 pada Kamis (3/6) dan 126 korban meninggal pada Rabu (4/6).
Direktur Jenderal Kesehatan Noor Hisham Abdullah mengatakan total ada 3.096 kematian yang tercatat sejak pandemi corona melanda Malaysia.
Sebuah studi yang dilakukan oleh sebuah universitas Amerika memperkirakan angka kematian Covid-19 Malaysia dapat mencapai 26.000 pada bulan September.
“(Proyeksi) bukan sesuatu yang mustahil,” kata Menteri Kesehatan Adham Baba, Kamis (3/6) seperti dikutip dari Channel News Asia.
Anggota Dewan Ilmu Pengetahuan Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO), Adeeba Kamarulzaman mengatakan proyeksi tersebut didasarkan pada situasi saat ini.

Menurut dia, penelitian Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, Washington, juga memproyeksikan bahwa tingkat kematian harian Malaysia dapat mencapai 200 kasus menjelang akhir Agustus.
Dalam konferensi pers, Adham mengatakan bahwa 60 persen kasus Covid-19 di negara itu terkait dengan pergerakan orang dan 40 persen dengan klaster.
“Virus itu mengikuti orang. Kalau orang pindah, virusnya juga pindah,” ujarnya.
Adham mengungkapkan bahwa aktivitas selama bulan Ramadan, jasa pengiriman serta aktivitas di berbagai sektor menjadi salah satu penyebab klaster komunitas di Malaysia.
Meski demikian, Adham menilai penguncian total dua minggu yang diberlakukan pada 1 Juni, telah menunjukkan tanda-tanda positif.
Malaysia pada Kamis mencatat 8.209 kasus baru, termasuk 65 infeksi impor.
Total harian lebih tinggi dari 7.703 yang dilaporkan pada hari Rabu dan menjadikan kasus kumulatif Malaysia sebanyak 595.374.
Saat ini ada 880 kasus di unit perawatan intensif, dengan 446 membutuhkan ventilator. Malaysia juga mencatat tambahan 7.049 pasien corona sembuh, angka itu tertinggi sejak awal pandemi. (*)
