KILASTOTABUAN.COM, JAKARTA – Sebuah bom dilaporkan meledak di dalam gereja Katolik di Kota Beni, di wilayah timur Republik Demokrasi Kongo pada Minggu (27/6).
Seorang pejabat setempat melaporkan ledakan terjadi satu jam sebelum upacara keagamaan untuk anak digelar dalam gereja tersebut.
Mengutip AFP, Kepala Polisi di Balai Kota Beni, Narcisse Muteba Kashale mengatakan ledakan terjadi pukul 06.00 waktu setempat.
Para ahli dari misi Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) untuk Kongo menyatakan bahwa bom yang digunakan dalam insiden ini adalah bom rakitan sendiri.

Bom tersebut diduga disiapkan untuk penyergapan. Sampai saat ini belum ada informasi terkait adanya korban jiwa karena ledakan itu.
Diketahui, negara yang berada di benua Afrika Selatan tersebut tengah terlibat konflik berkepanjangan sejak 1996. Kekerasan dan peperangan antara sejumlah kelompok pemberontak pun terus terjadi di Kongo.
Menurut PBB, eksploitasi sumber daya alam merupakan salah satu akar penyebab konflik di Kongo. Para pemberontak kerap terlibat dalam konflik dengan militer dan negara dan pasukan PBB mengenai penguasaan wilayah. (*)
