KILASTOTABUAN.COM, JAKARTA — Sebanyak empat anak meninggal dunia dan beberapa lainnya mengalami luka serius akibat tragedi istana balon di Australia.
Angin menerbangkan istana balon yang mereka gunakan untuk bermain kala pesta akhir semester, Kamis (16/12).
Kepolisian mengatakan anak-anak di sekolah dasar wilayah barat Tasmania tengah mengadakan pekan terakhir mereka masuk kelas sebelum libur Natal. Namun, mereka harus jatuh dari ketinggian 10 meter akibat istana balon yang terbang tadi.
“Saya sekarang dengan sedih dapat mengonfirmasi ada empat anak yang meninggal dunia dan empat lainnya berada dalam kondisi kritis, dan satu anak berada dalam kondisi serius,” kata Komisaris Polisi Tasmania Darren Hine, dikutip dari AFP.
Korban meninggal adalah dua laki-laki dan dua perempuan yang berada di kelas enam, dengan umur sekitar 11 tahun.
Sejauh ini belum ada penjelasan detail penyebab istana kastil balon terbang sehingga menewaskan empat anak.
Beberapa helikopter penyelamat dan ambulans dikerahkan untuk menangani insiden ini. Beberapa foto yang beredar memperlihatkan polisi yang menangis, dan terpal biru menutupi apa yang mereka nilai sebagai ‘sesuatu yang sangat menyedihkan.’
Kepolisian kini sedang melakukan investigasi. Sementara itu, saksi, teman, keluarga, guru, dan responden pertama yang ada di lokasi kejadian tengah diberikan konseling.
Sementara itu, Perdana Menteri Australia Scott Morrison mengatakan bahwa kejadian ini ‘menghancurkan’ dan ‘menyedihkan.’
“Anak-anak kecil yang sedang bersenang-senang bersama keluarga mereka, dan itu berubah menjadi tragedi yang mengerikan, di waktu seperti ini, itu sangat menyakitkan hati,” tutur Morrison.

Sebelumnya, pihak sekolah mengundang orang tua untuk menjadi relawan acara tadi. Ada beberapa wahana yang disediakan, seperti zona bermain basah, perosotan, seni dan kerajinan, bola tiup, pun juga istana balon.
Akibat kejadian ini, pihak sekolah menghentikan acara mereka dan menyuruh para orang tua untuk segera menjemput anak-anak mereka. (*)
