KILASTOTABUAN.COM, JAKARTA — Direktur Komersial Global dan Media Dorna Sports, Manel Arroyo, mengungkap alasan MotoGP Mandalika di Indonesia sangat penting.
MotoGP Mandalika 2022 yang akan berlangsung 18-20 Maret mendatang akan jadi balapan bersejarah. Ini adalah kali pertama sejak 1997 di Sirkuit Sentul, Indonesia akan menggelar balapan MotoGP.
Arroyo mengatakan menggelar balapan MotoGP di Indonesia merupakan hal penting bagi Dorna Sports selaku pengelola MotoGP. Indonesia merupakan pasar yang sangat besar bagi MotoGP.
“Di Indonesia, MotoGP adalah olahraga kedua yang paling banyak diikuti sejauh ini. Di Indonesia kejuaraan MotoGP disiarkan secara terbuka di televisi dan semua stasiun televisi tertarik untuk membeli hak siar,” ucap Arroyo dikutip dari Mundo Deportivo.
Lebih lanjut Arroyo mengatakan Dorna sangat senang dengan keseriusan Pemerintah Indonesia untuk menggelar MotoGP Mandalika.
“Selain itu Mandalika merupakan daerah yang ingin dikembangkan Pemerintah Indonesia dari segi wisata. Hal pertama yang telah dibangun adalah sirkuit perkotaan, dan mereka juga ingin membangun lapangan golf di sana, di antara konstruksi lainnya,” ujar Arroyo.
Arroyo kemudian mengungkap tantangan dalam menggelar balapan MotoGP 2022 di tengah ancaman pandemi Covid-19. Arroyo mengatakan pihak Dorna Sports akan berupaya menggelar seluruh 21 balapan di MotoGP 2022.
“Hal yang terpenting adalah bukan apakah kami optimistis atau tidak, karena keputusan bukan di tangan kami. Apa yang Dorna bisa lakukan adalah menganalisis setiap kondisi bersama pemerintah tuan rumah ketika tanggal balapan mulai dekat, dan kami juga harus jelas mengenai peraturan operasi di paddock,” ucap Arroyo.
Sebelum menggelar balapan MotoGP Mandalika 2022 pada 18-20 Maret mendatang, Sirkuit Mandalika akan lebih dulu menggelar tes pramusim MotoGP 2022, 11-13 Februari mendatang. (*)
